Puja and Havan

Shri Sai Satcharita informs us that Sai Baba asked his devotees to keep faith in Bhagavad Gita, Ramayan, Vishnu Saharshnama and other religious books. He prompted Shama to go to Banaras and Gaya for Puja and Havan. Shri Sai Baba lighted lamps with water in Dwarkamai mosque when shopkeepers denied him oil. He advised Bhagwant Rao Kshirasagar to start the worship of Lord Vithoba which was in his family.

A Homa or Havan is a sacred fire ceremony in which God is invoked in a sacred fire. Certain special offerings are made into the fire while reciting Mantras. The combination of the powerful energy of the fire and the mantras creates extremely auspicious and purifying vibrations.

At times Havan can work as a powerful remedy to resolve health issues. The most important Havans are Havan for Nav- Graha and Maha-Mrityunjaya mantra. Havan done for Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi also emits healing energies as is the experience of many devotees. The sacrificial remain in the form of ash can also be used as Sai Udi (Vibhuti) which is said to have miraculous healing powers.
